This week has been a good week. The sun has been shining and both Aria and I have been in a great mood (well, mostly! she is two after all...) and we've been out and about so much more, which has been truly lovely.
One of the nicest things we've done this week is go and have a picnic. I'm not talking gingham blankets, lanterns hanging from trees and dainty glasses of wine - although that would have been incredible - I'm talking cheap and cheerful sandwiches and crisps out in the garden. And you know what? It was lovely.
Sometimes I feel like I need to make a huge effort in entertaining Aria, putting so much pressure on myself when in fact, it's the simplest of things she loves the best. So that's what we did on Wednesday. We popped to my mums, got an old blanket from the garage out and had a really simple picnic just the two of us. Of course the dogs wanted in on the action too, but it was so lovely just to have some quality time together doing something that could not have been more simple.
It made me think about all the mum guilt we put on ourselves to be these perfect Pinterest mums, and how unnecessary it can be at times. I want to make more of an effort to make less effort, if that makes sense at all? By not putting pressure on myself to have the perfect day, I really do enjoy it so much more!
Here's hoping next week brings us some more sunshine so we can get out and about a bit more!
I did a little vlog of our picnic afternoon - if you'd like a little nosey, I've popped a link below :)
